Samsung’s Omnia range of phones have become a synonym for quality as the lineage involves a number of phones that come loaded with pleasing features. The latest introduction/addition- Samsung Omnia Pro B7320 also seeks to drive forward that repute created by its predecessors.
However, if we dig down deep, the latest entry might actually blow the reputation. The reasons are one many and we begin with a disappointing 3MP camera. It is saddening for the fact that the previous Omnia members have had 5MP and 8MP cameras. Add to that the lack of flash light and you realize that it is a bit of a downturn.
There is a hopelessly small screen to support GPS navigation and all this is the consequence of a QWERTY keyboard which gives the phone a ‘BlackBerry’ tinge.
The Windows smartphone gets HSDPA connectivity but even there, it it gets pathetic d-load speeds of upto 3.6Mbps. You will even find it wanting for the lack of a 3.5mm audio jack.
The only impressive point is the ability of the phone to offer hot contacts, most used applications, photo gallery and the music player on the menu.
Samsung Mobile announced a new phone in the Omnia Series – Samsung Omnia Pro B7320, a Windows Mobile smartphone with a QWERTY keyboard.
The Samsung Omnia Pro is a BlackBerry-style smartphone operational with a full QWERTY keypad for greater ease while texting and drafting mails. The phone is loaded with MS Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard. Like many BlackBerry devices, the Omnia Pro has a landscape-oriented screen above a QWERTY keypad. The 2.4-inch display has a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels (QVGA). The keypad is one of the main features of the B7320 and makes for faster composition of emails and other text-heavy duties. Because the device isn’t very wide, keys are located very close to one another, with hardly any space between them.
The Omnia B7320 is very compact measuring just 12.6mm in thickness and weighing a light 110g. The internal memory specifications are also encouraging with 70 MB storage which is expandable up to 16 GB, a 256 MB RAM and 256 MB ROM with a 528 MHz processor. You can save and store unlimited number of phone book entries and check unlimited call records. Moreover, one can have fast access to any data available over the net and download it at a very high speed by using HSDPA which is available in the mobile. The Bluetooth and the USB featured in the Samsung Omnia Pro B7320 have really been of much use and it is very convenient to transfer any data from and to other devices.
The new Omnia Pro B7320 has the Microsoft Outlook Mobile and the Pocket Office as one can work on important documents and projects even while being away from the office. Apart from all these applications it has the features like Stereo FM radio with RDS, on the back a 3 Megapixel camera with a preview mirror for self-portraits along with auto-focus and video capability and various games to keep one involved and entertained even while on the move.
